Ken Aptekar told us to paint a combination of the painting we hate and the one we love.

We spent 4 days painting and thinking - it was wonderful. Ken was a great teacher, kind and helpfull. He has a fountain of knowledge and was able to articulate it so we could understand.

Ken Aptekar's painting. He exhibits all over the world.

Ken sat near the food most of the time. We had real French pastries on the last day.

Carlos paints. There is a poem written on the female image.
Dickson Ferrell paints. Dickson paints. Dickson chose the assignment of painting a detail of a painting you love.
Jamie Montgomery paints Jamie Montgomery Jamie is from Williamson. She drove a long way to spend the 4 days painting with Ken Aptekar.
Jane Cross

Jane Cross paints. You can see the poster of the painting (on right) that Jane chose to have her love hate relationship.

Karl Culbertson paints a detail of "Joyce" Karl Culbertson paints
Ken studies Poochie's painting. Poochie loved the print in the Jewish Well show that was all gray. Well she didn't love the color. Linda kisses the sunflower comet. We all hate the painting of the sunflower in the Daywood collection. Linda made it alive.

Linda will put this poem on her drawings.

Dialogue
by Linda Helgason

O pure enigma, I hesitate.
Will passion again
End in disgust?

Oh for a lust that sweeps
Hate from deckle to deckle-
Til my fibers loosen
With dawning pleasure!

You buckle, wantonly cockle
And glow, you slut!

Add color quickly,
Wet in wet.

Ultramarine,
How it suffuses you
With possibilities!

Now give me umber, raw.
Don't make me beg.

Shall I assault you with scratches,"Pour salt in the wounds?

No. Scumble,
Scumble me
With your thirsty brush.
